Faux Post‑Pandemic Welcome

Winning Battle Against Covid

Are you among the millions with the optimism that the pandemic would end by the year 2022? Honestly, when I completed the draft for this article, I also anticipated this year would be the start of a new era.

The first case of COVID-19 was in November 2019. By March 2020, it was spiraling throughout the globe. The pandemic ebbed and surged throughout 2021. During 2022, citizens have hopes of putting this pandemic to rest. Such optimism lacks the support of available data. The Omicron variant has outstripped the delta virus, and experts are monitoring others. So the coronavirus is still causing infections, disrupting supply chains, and causing deaths in various countries.

Wealthier nations were first in line to receive vaccines. Distribution continues in underdeveloped countries. Even with the availability of vaccines, some citizens are still hesitant to get a shot in the arm. Experts tell us that being unvaccinated increases the spread of virus variants.

After vaccination, a face covering and physical distancing is beneficial at least until everyone else has had the chance to get the vaccine. But there are many holdouts. Do you anticipate that during the year 2022 or 2023, COVID-19 will become a minor nuisance as a result of herd immunity?
