Healthy Eating For Cancer

Cervical cancer (cancer of the cervix) is the second most common cancer in women. If Campbell himself said you could prevent cervical cancer with a bowl of soup it is not likely you would give much credence to soup nutrition to fight cervical cancer—unless, as a woman, Campbell happens to be the name of your ob-gyn doctor.

With adequate disclaimers, nutritionists list several foods to reduce risk of cervical cancer. These include choosing low-glycemic, non-starchy vegetables, legumes and fruits that are slowly digested. A reduction in protein and animal fat is suggested. Sufficient doses of Vitamin C, E, and Zinc are also recommended. [1]

Based on nutritional recommendations, it is possible to prepare recipes that, theoretically, reduce the risk of (but not claim to cure) cervical cancer. If they are tasty and do not conflict with other dietary restrictions, women may wish to include such wholesome soups in their periodic meal planning.

You need not limit yourself to beets and carrots. Recipes range from Grandma’s Chicken Soup to Broccoli Barley Soup. During Cervical Cancer Awareness month, head over to the Heal With Food website and pick out your favorite recipe, perhaps like the one below. [2]
