Purpose of Aphrodisiacs
Natural or artificial aphrodisiacs are things people consume to heighten senses for intimacy. They may be visually suggestive foods or those that tantalize the tastebuds. You don’t need to travel to a distant rainforest for pleasure-arousing ingredients. Some items are available from your local market.
Exotic Tastes, Textures and Sparkles
Aphrodisiac foods have a long history. The Bible mentions a quarrel between Rachel and Leah over mandrakes. (Genesis 30:14, 15) It was, and still is in some parts of the Middle East, regarded as an aphrodisiac. Individuals believe it is able to increase human fertility or aid in conception. Some believed that artichokes, asparagus, onions, leeks, squash, turnips, and watercress stimulate desire and increase sperm count.
Not everyone responds the same way to each aphrodisiac. Some things that work for awhile may, in time, lose their effect on you. So it may be necessary to try several foods to spice things up. Here are some popular suggestions.

The manner in which you eat them can play a factor. Chili, curry, or other foods that generate heat may increase blood circulation and heighten arousal.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns that raw oysters contaminated with Vibrio vulnificus can be life-threatening, even fatal when eaten by someone with liver disease, diabetes, or a weak immune system. You cannot rely on your senses to determine if an oyster is safe.
Aphrodisiac Frittata Recipe
Whip eggs with mascarpone cheese or mayonnaise until frothy. Include fresh mozzarella, capers, fresh uncut snap peas, salt, and minced chili peppers. (Fried dried onions on the top adds another textural element.) Bake up a fluffy frittata at 380º F.
Vegetarian frittata
Serve with cherry tomatoes, and avocado slices drizzled with olive oil, salt, and cracked pepper. Meat eaters add sausage links on the side. (Vegetarian sausage links are also available.)
