Atrial Fibrillation and Ischemic Strokes Chart 22x28

This oversize 22" x 28" (56 x 71 cm) exam-room anatomy poster takes a look at stroke, atrial fibrillation (AFib) and their relationship. The anatomy and electrical pathways of the heart are shown, while graphics and text describe a sequence of events from AFib to stroke. This is one of the best laminated anatomy posters for cardiologists, hematologists and medical students.

When the atria, the two upper chambers, contract at an excessively high rate, and in an irregular way, the patient has AFib. AFib is very similar to superventricular tachycardia (SVT). Both conditions affect the atria of the heart. The difference rests in the regularity of the heartbeat. SVT is a fast, regular heartbeat; AFib is a fast, irregular heartbeat. When the two lower chambers beat irregularly and flutter, the patient has ventricular fibrillation (VFib). Both produce an irregular heart rhythm.
