Wear yellow tinted safety glasses when using UV black lights. UV lamps are useful in exposing particulates that you are unable to see in normal lighting. But do not shine this light into your eyes.
UV light covers a wavelength spectrum from 100 to 380 nm and is subdivided into three regions by wavelength: UVA (320 to 400 nm), UVB (280 to 320 nm), and UVC (200 to 280 nm).
UV eye damage, called photokeratitis, usually goes away on its own within a few days. In the short term, UV ray exposure and eye sunburn can cause uncomfortable symptoms. In the long term, serious conditions, such as cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, and eyelid cancer may result from UVB rays.
